On August 9, 2023, Government Agreement No. 184-2023 of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources was published in the Official Gazette, through which it agrees to reforms to Government Agreement No. 164-2021 dated August 9, 2021 Regulations for management. comprehensive waste and common solid waste.
Below is a brief summary of it:
Article 12 is reformed: All those individuals or legal entities, public or private, national or foreign, that, as a result of their activities, produce common solid waste or residues, must separate them at the time of their generation, according to the following classifications: Classification First: organic and inorganic; b) Secondary Classification: a) Organic, b) Recyclable (paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, multilayer and c) Non-recyclable.
The implementation of the Primary Classification will be carried out until the date of the Secondary implementation and the latter will be mandatory from February 11, 2025.
Article 17 is reformed: Minimum standards applicable to vehicles intended for the collection and transportation of waste and common solid waste are established as: they must guarantee that there are no spills to the outside during transport, they must be fully identified and their nominal capacity must exceed the amount of waste and waste to be collected by a minimum of 25% according to collection frequency.
Article 64 is reformed: The entities subject to the provisions of the Regulation will have a period forty-two (42) months from the entry into force of the regulations to adapt to these and comply with the obligations.
The agreement comes into effect on August 10, 2023.
